Location: Yate, Bristol

Background: Shan’s is a brand new concept in evening entertainment in Yate, 12 miles from Bristol in South Gloucestershire. A premier cabaret bar featuring high-end tribute acts each weekend, alongside their very own house band. The bar serves a wide selection of drinks, cocktails & delicious food all served to your table.

Brief: We were asked to design a unique brand which reflected this new music/food/drinks concept, talked to the local target market, but also incorporated a very personal element for the owner.

Outcome: We were very thoughtful of the fact that it had to have such a personal connection so we worked hard to get to know the client, her personality and the story behind her journey to get to where she is today.

We spent a lot of time getting the fonts and colours just right – we chose 2 fonts which have their roots in musicals and cabaret shows of yesteryear which fit with the business perfectly. The black and white colouring is just very classic and gives the brand longevity, whilst the gold is muted and stylish and works perfectly across online – website and social media – as well as printed materials – signage, business cards, table talkers and posters.

Eco friendly: We use local printers where their paper is sourced from FSC forests. When it came to creating Shan’s VIP Cards, rather than go for regular plastic we sourced a local printer who supplied ‘recycled cards’. These are made in part from old plastic cards and sheet trimmings, which reduces the amount of PVC that is thrown away.

Collaboration: We collaborated on this project with Becky Whitaker from People Buy People, a specialist in the tourism and hospitality sector, and Shari Sant from Red Rite, online business manager working with small start-up businesses. Becky very kindly brought us on board after the success of working on the branding for Alibi Halifax, and we worked closely with Shari who brought our website ideas to life with her tech wizardry.
